Presence table
2015
An archetypical long table that can be tailored to almost any length. The mixed materials of the table’s surface create a pattern within the object whilst illustrating the table’s modularity. The table is constructed from solid wood base and tops of wood and Larvikitt, a stone unique to Norway from the Lundhs quarry in Larvik.
The essence of the project was to create a modern and robust long table. To make this possible the object has to consist of several tops and set of leg modules. This is enhanced by composing contrasting materials on the surface and support it on a modular base with robust yet minimal proportions.
The table was the first collaboration between Thomas Jenkins and Sverre Uhnger and was first showcased as a prototype for Norwegian Presence in Milan 2015. Between 2018 and 2023 it was in the collection of Objekt (NO). Now available for licensing.
